AAV RESEARCH GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT
2010-2011

Association of Avian Veterinarians Research Grants Available


Preproposals for research projects addressing clinical aspects of exotic and wild birds, including diagnostic tests, drug doses, practice management, and conservation, are now being accepted for consideration for funding by the Association of Avian Veterinarians. Grants are limited to $10,000.00 for an individual project.

The full project, or portion of the project for which funding is requested, must be completed within one (1) calendar year upon acceptance.

Indirect costs such as travel, publication costs, salaries, and overhead shall not be funded by the Association of Avian Veterinarians.

All prospective research studies funded by the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) must receive full approval by the facility’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or equivalent research review entity. If IACUC (or equivalent) approval is pending at the time of full proposal submission to the AAV, proof of subsequent complete approval must be made available to the AAV before funds can be released for the research project.

Although not a mandatory requirement for funding, selected investigators are strongly encouraged to publish their results in the Journal ofAvian Medicine and Surgery and/or submit presentation proposals for the annual conference of the Association of Avian Veterinarians. Selected investigators will be r  equired to provide a written research update, suitable for publication on the AAV's website, the the Association of Avian Veterinarians at the end ofthe first calendar year from funding.


Completed preproposals (one page form only) must be received by January 15, 2011. Final proposals, upon invitation only, must be received by May 7, 2011. Grants will be announced at the AAV 31st Annual Conference and Expo in Seattle, Washington, USA on August 8, 2011

Your preproposal must be contained on one 8.5" x 11" page, minimum font size of 10 points. Preproposals exceeding one page or using smaller font will not be accepted for consideration. This is to ensure that all applicants have equal opportunity to present their proposal.

Duration of Project
Estimated Budget*:
Statement of Research Objectives
Summary of Experimental Methods and Design
