ACTIVE: Active membership shall be open to veterinary graduates from universities approved in their respective country. Applicants in need, from Emerging Nations, may apply for an AAV Scholarship of $50 to assist with their dues. Emerging Nations are listed below. ASSOCIATE: An Associate member is an individual in a veterinary-related or allied health profession. ALLIED PROFESSIONAL: Membership shall be available to any individual who is not otherwise eligible for Active, Associate, Technician, or Student membership, has an interest in any allied health profession relating to avian medicine, physiology, nutrition, conservation, or other. Allied Members shall have all of the rights and privileges of Active Members except they shall not have: i) the right to attend membership meetings and: ii) the right to vote on matters upon which votes are limited to Active Members and: iii) access to the AAV Annual Conference and Expo programs not specified in the current program for Allied Members. COMMERCIAL: A Commercial member is a business enterprise with an interest in veterinary medicine. STUDENT: A Student member is an individual currently enrolled in an accredited or listed school or college of veterinary medicine or any veterinary program approved in their individual country. Graduate students, residents, and interns are considered Active members. HONORARY: Honorary membership is extended to an individual who has made extraordinarily contribution to avian medicine or aviculture STUDENT CHAPTER: Student Chapter membership is extended to a group of five or more students enrolled in the same accredited school of veterinary medicine. TECHNICIAN: Technicians who qualify for membership are granted Associate Member Status.
