AAV Webclasses- Basic Avian Medicine
To give you a quick update— the AAV is working hard on the webcast on
Basic Avian Medicine. The webcast will consist of 9 modules (each module
will have 4 hours of lecture and will be divided into two 2 hour classes
approximately 1 week apart). This will give a total of 36 hours of
continuing education on basic avian medicine and surgery.
The entire course, which will take 18 2-hour sessions, will be spread
over approximately 1 year. As we get a feel for what is or not working,
we will adjust the classes and course. This may include repeated,
deleted and modified classes.
VIN will host the webcast. Our education committee has been selecting
teachers for each class. Once a professor has agreed to do the webcast,
VIN will work with each one on the details for teaching the class.
At this time, primarily North American teachers have been selected. As
the classes will likely be taught during a weeknight, the class times
will work best for people in North American time zones. However, all
participants can watch the webcast live (through VIN) or view a written
transcript of the class at their leisure.
Soon, we should have a real time schedule of each class and the full 9
module course. I have put information about the upcoming webclasses in
the AAV Newsletter and AAV Clinical Forum (look for
upcoming issues). We are working on an ad campaign to be launched at the
conference in Savannah (August, 2008) and online (through the AAV
websites [EAAV and AAVAC also] and possibly through VIN).
As we want this to be a big success, I would like to start opening up
dialogue on the webclasses. If anyone has questions, let's start working
on the answers as soon as possible. This program is intended to be
international so we want everyone to be as well informed as possible
prior to the launch. Also, we would like to anticipate potential
problems and work to resolve issues that come up ASAP.
If you have a question, please post it here and I will do my best to
keep everyone up to date.
Your colleague,
Scott Echols
